Religious rite passage revealed
An integral time in the lives of novice Buddhist monks is the period ahead of entry into the monastery.
The two days leading up to this auspicious event is filled with spirituality and the participation of family and friends. This includes the preparation of a feast, musical performances, sometimes involving an entire orchestra and arrangements for the procession to the temple. Our team in Myanmar has designed some inspirational programmes at Inle Lake, Bagan and Mandalay that incorporate this ritual into incentive programmes.
Participants will witness a colourful procession of a young boy leading his proud family to the temple, followed by the symbolic shaving of the novice’s head. The event concludes with lunch.
