Half Day Sandakan City Tour

The cultural riches of Sandakan are revealed on this fascinating tour of Sabah’s second-largest city. Our journey explores religious sites, colonial landmarks and the remnants of World War Two. Highlights include the colourful Central Market and the Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, perched on the hilltop of Tanah Merah, with spectacular views over Sandakan Bay. We also visit St Michael’s and All Angels Church, one of the oldest buildings to survive World War Two and one of the few stone structures in the area that remain intact. The city’s cultural legacy is further showcased at the historic house once home to American author Agnes Keith. Now a museum, it features period furnishings, family memorabilia, photographs and exhibits relating to her life. We then proceed to the Sandakan Rotary Observatory Pavilion, where we enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the city and beyond.
