Conservation in action in Thailand

Asian Trails’ guests can get involved with hands-on conservation and sustainability initiatives in Central Thailand. Located near the Salakphra Wildlife Sanctuary in Kanchanaburi province, Ourland Reserve is helping to protect Thailand’s native wildlife through the preservation and regeneration of natural ecosystems.

Designed to engage and educate, the natural sanctuary facilitates student groups and corporate teams with a variety of ecological activities. Guests can learn about the freshwater ecosystem of the Kwae Yai River while floating on a raft or walk in the footsteps of wild elephants on a jungle trek.

The organisation also offers opportunities to engage with the local community, including a practical mud brick making workshop where guests get firsthand instruction on how to build sustainable homes in the local architectural style.

Ourland Reserve focuses on collaborative, community-driven solutions to address the issue of land degradation and works with partners to protect endangered species, such as banteng, wild Asian elephants, hornbills, bats and snakes.
