Building crab condos in Rayong
The construction of ‘crab condos’ is a unique CSR initiative and incentive programme where participants give back to the sea. For groups of up to 60 pax, guests join crab conservationists in Rayong to build the condos. These natural wooden nests are specialised habitats for the preservation of crabs living in the mangroves along the Gulf of Thailand.
The group is divided into teams, each collecting dead leaves, fallen barks and other natural waste to build the condos. These unusual ‘residences’ are safe havens for new born crabs to grow before they are released back into the sea. As natural materials are used in the condo construction they self-decompose and leave no artificial pollutants behind. This an eco- friendly team-building project that helps protect aquatic life.
