Sihanoukville Port to Kampot and Kep

Explore Cambodia’s delightful southern coast with this day excursion from Sihanoukville to Kampot and Kep.

We disembark the ship and get into a car waiting for us at Sihanoukville International Port and drive to charming Kampot. The compact riverine town is home to a collection of colonial architecture, a tidy promenade and smattering of eateries, boutiques and bars. While the surrounding countryside is home to farms producing world-famous Kampot pepper, strong-smelling dorian and rice.

We then set off for the nearby coastal town of Kep, stopping en-route at shimmering salt fields. The fields sit close to the sea, with water flooding the fields. The water flow is then blocked and the water evaporates, leaving salt crystals. We then continue to Kompong Trach cave in Kep. This mountainous area was one of the last Khmer Rouge holdouts and its main attraction is a series of limestone caves and tubes carved into the mountain. We drive back to Sihanoukville to board the ship.
