Flights between India and China to resume

India’s budget airline IndiGo has announced the resumption of direct flights between India and China – marking the first non-stop air connections between the two countries in over five years.

The carrier will relaunch its Kolkata–Guangzhou route from 26 October 2025 and introduce a New Delhi–Guangzhou link from 10 November 2025. Other airlines from both nations are expected to resume services before the year-end.

Flights between the two nations were suspended in early 2020, initially due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later because of heightened geopolitical tensions. With improving diplomatic relations, new travel options are imminent, particularly providing more convenient access to Southern China.

A dynamic commercial and cultural hub, the city of Guangzhou offers a diverse range of experiences, including panoramic views from Canton Tower, the colonial charm of Shamian Island and scenic Pearl River cruises.
