An insider’s guide to the best of Cambodia

Asian Trails recently hosted an exclusive familiarisation trip through Cambodia to showcase the country’s diverse cultural heritage, varied history and idyllic scenery.

The journey revealed compelling destinations and offered a valuable insight into Asian Trails’ premium travel experiences. The tour was led by Virginie Kury, Managing Director of Asian Trails Cambodia, Natalia Sánchez Infantes, Asian Trails’ representative for Spain and Portugal, and Diego Santacroce, Product Manager for Asian Trails Cambodia – in collaboration with Ana M. Escribano, Account Manager for Singapore Airlines in Madrid.

Luxury indulgence commenced with a rejuvenating massage at one of Phnom Penh’s premier spas, followed by fine dining at a sophisticated restaurant.

The following day offered new perspectives on the capital’s rich and complex history through guided discovery of key attractions, including French colonial architecture and ornate Buddhist temples. Browsing exhibits at the Sosoro Museum provided a fascinating vision into history and cultural evolution. The day ended perfectly with a tranquil sunset cruise along the Mekong River.

The next morning involved a scenic drive south to discover coastal charms, including island retreats such as Six Senses Krabey Island, Jati Resort on Koh Russey and The Royal Sands Koh Rong. The team also enjoyed a kayaking excursion along the picturesque Ta Sok Mangrove River and seaside sundowners.

Next, a short flight to Siem Reap, uncovered Cambodia’s cultural heart, where a group dinner was enhanced with a traditional apsara dance, an enlightening introduction to classic Khmer arts heritage.

The following morning began with an awe-inspiring sunrise at Angkor Wat, followed by a blessing ceremony and then a tasty session sampling authentic Khmer noodles. An evening trip to the big top to watch performers conduct amazing acrobatic stunts at Phare, The Cambodian Circus left everyone spellbound.

On the concluding day, visits to artisan villages highlighted exceptional handicrafts, followed by a countryside Jeep adventure through sleepy landscapes untouched by time.
