Private Full Day CBT Baan Bang Rong Community Visit
For an insight into a traditional way of living, this half-day excursion takes guests off the well-worn tourism trail to meet people who live by age-old practices. Our discovery starts at 7.30 am at Bang Rong Village, a Muslim community on the east coast of Phuket. Our destination is the Baan Bang Rong Agricultural Preservation Tourism Group, a body that promotes eco-practices. We can see how locals make a living from the natural environment and take part in hosted activities, such as creating a pateh bag, a famous handicraft in this community. Our immersion continues with a visit to a pineapple farm where we taste this delicious fruit straight out of the ground. We then watch a rubber tapping demonstration, a mainstay of the island’s economy. We then learn about a crab conservation project, followed by the release of crabs into the sea near a mangrove forest. Our final call is a coconut garden to see how these nuts are harvested, followed by a cooking demonstration of the famous dessert khnam tom. This fascinating tour includes lunch cooked in a local community kitchen and a return transfer at around 1.30 pm.
