Thailand’s Maya Bay reopens to visitors
The picturesque bay made famous by the Hollywood film The Beach has once again reopened to tourists following a two-month closure for marine rehabilitation.
Located in the southern Thai province of Krabi, the popular tourist destination is home to an abundance of wildlife, from giant clams to blacktip reef sharks and colourful clownfish. The bay’s annual closure helps to ensure these wonderful aquatic creatures are protected from overtourism and continue to thrive for future generations to enjoy.
The reopening of Maya Bay on 1 October 2024 coincides with the reopening of nearby attractions, Loh Samah Bay and Lor Kor Bay. For information about excursions to Maya Bay or to plan a tailor-made programme, contact our team at Asian Trails Thailand
