Handcrafting the perfect vista in Laos
Ock Pop Tok, meaning ‘East meets West’ in the Lao language is a partnership between a British entrepreneur and a Lao weaver who share a mission to preserve traditional weaving techniques.
This handicraft has traditionally been an important source of income for many Lao families, but the custom has been fading due to modern technology. The initiative is housed in the Living Crafts Centre, a property set in lush tropical gardens on the banks of the Mekong River in the leading tourism destination of Luang Prabang. The facility includes weaving studios and exhibition spaces.
Besides providing an insight into the fascinating world of Lao textiles, the idyllic site is the perfect location for an incentive event. Up to 80 delegates can enjoy beverages as the sun sinks over the legendary Mekong, Asia’s third longest river.
