Shanghai gets second Waldorf Astoria
Waldorf Astoria has brought its signature style to Shanghai’s Qiantan District in Pudong.
The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan, which opened in October 2025, makes Shanghai one of only three cities worldwide to host two Waldorf Astoria hotels – the others being Doha and Dubai.

Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and Cheng Chung Design, the property features 204 guest rooms and suites, all with river or city views. Some suites have private balconies and outdoor jacuzzis.
The hotel’s prime location provides direct access to Qiantan Park, the riverfront promenade and key commercial and cultural landmarks.
Dining options include Arame, serving modern European cuisine with locally sourced ingredients; Fu Cheng, led by Michelin-starred chef Justin Yang and specialising in refined Min cuisine; and the Starlight Room, an exclusive chef’s table with an open kitchen and terrace views over the Huangpu River.

Wellness and recreation facilities include a 25-metre indoor heated pool, a 24-hour fitness centre and four private treatment rooms. Guests can also enjoy riverside jogging, cycling, yoga and meditation sessions.
Located near the West Bund Art Museum, Tank Shanghai, and Qiantan Taikoo Li, the hotel offers convenient access to business, cultural and leisure attractions.
