Art flourishes beyond ancient temples
Since opening in October 2025, the SM Art Centre has emerged as a vibrant cultural destination in Siem Reap.
Showcasing the nation’s dynamic contemporary art scene, the centre provides an important platform for emerging local artists while offering fresh insight into contemporary Khmer life and culture.

Gradually developed over 15 years on what was once a quiet rice field, the project demonstrates a sustained commitment to artistic development and cultural exchange.
Today, it operates as a purpose-built venue for exhibitions, residencies, workshops and educational programmes, thoughtfully connecting Cambodia’s rich heritage with modern perspectives.

Visitors can discover thought-provoking works exploring themes of resilience, memory and transformation. Providing a compelling counterpoint to the region’s ancient temples, the centre can be seamlessly incorporated into any Siem Reap itinerary.
