Chiang Mai elevates the lantern experience

Bookings are now open for the spectacular Chiang Mai lantern festival. With strong demand expected during this period, early reservations are highly recommended.

The activities coincide with the annual Loy Krathong and Yi Peng celebrations, where people float small, decorated baskets on rivers and lakes or release illuminated lanterns into the sky.

For the first time, Asian Trails is offering two distinct festival experiences, providing agents with more options than ever before.

One is the CAD Khomloy Lantern Festival, an organised lantern release celebrating Lanna culture with traditional performances, craft and art displays, a tribal village, a Lanna buffet dinner and the spectacular mass lantern release.

The other is the Chiang Mai Voyage of Light Lantern Festival, a premium alternative designed for travellers seeking a more exclusive experience. Limited to just 2,500 guests, the festival features artisan markets, traditional performances, spiritual rituals and curated dining. Premium tickets include reserved seating, private lounges and other high-end benefits.

Both experiences are included in a curated four-day tour showcasing the best of Chiang Mai. Set departures for both festivals operate 24-27 November and 25-28 November 2026. Three hotel categories are available to suit different budgets. For further information or bookings, please contact Asian Trails Thailand.
