Half Day Batik Colouring Workshop
Put your creative skills to the test and learn about the traditional technique of batik. This hands-on half-day excursion sees us join a batik colouring workshop to experience how to fill in colour on a fabric with a pre-waxed batik pattern. Under the guidance of an expert, we will learn how to mix primary colours to become secondary colours to bring the colourful fabric to life.
Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to cloth and can be found throughout Indonesia and Malaysia. Batik is made either by drawing dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called a tjanting, or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a cap. The workshop lasts about 40 minutes, with the material being 100 per cent cotton and measuring 20 cm by 20 cm. After the workshop, we will return to the hotel.
