Grand Palace closed as Thailand enters period of mourning

The Grand Palace in Bangkok is closed to visitors until 8 November 2025, following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother of Thailand, on Friday 24 October.

The kingdom has now entered a period of mourning. Government officials will wear black for one year, while others, including Asian Trails’ Thailand staff, will wear muted colours for at least 90 days as a sign of respect.

All other attractions and services continue as normal. Travellers are not required to take part in mourning but should be aware of possible adjustments to public events and celebrations during this time.
