Samui marine park announces temporary closure

Ang Thong National Marine Park, located in the Gulf of Thailand off the coast of Koh Samui, will be closed for tourism from 1 November to 15 December 2026.

The 45-day annual closure allows marine ecosystems to recover and helps protect the park’s natural environment.

Although the archipelago of around 40 islands, known for its emerald lagoon, limestone caves and secluded beaches, will not be accessible during this period, visitors can explore other cultural attractions on Koh Samui or enjoy excursions to nearby islands such as Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, which are popular destinations for snorkelling and diving.
