Asian Trails backs island’s water initiative

For the second consecutive year, Asian Trails has participated in an annual water conservation initiative on the island of Koh Samui.

Organised in collaboration with OZO Chaweng Samui, the project supports efforts to conserve water for the benefit of local farming communities around Khao Pom Mountain.

Representing Asian Trails, Benjamas Jantipa and Marisa Saengmueankhong joined fellow volunteers to help build barriers in the forest that slow the flow of rainwater and retain water at higher elevations on the island.

The project is particularly important for local farmers, who rely on dams to irrigate their plantations during the drier months.

In addition to manpower, Asian Trails also provided two four-wheel-drive vehicles to help access the mountainous area and made a small contribution to the local agricultural department to support its work.

It was a rewarding day of teamwork, environmental responsibility and community engagement, with a shared focus on supporting Koh Samui’s natural water resources and farming communities.
