Building bridges with Kuala Lumpur’s community

Twenty-five staff from our Malaysia office recently went to Kampung Baru — a unique enclave in the heart of Kuala Lumpur — for a community garden clean-up and planting activity.

Organised in collaboration with the community’s coordinating agency Perbadanan Pembangunan Kampong Bharu (PKB), this is the team’s second visit to the site, following their previous effort last November which involved planting mustard greens.

This time, they focused on a different area, maintaining a garden and planting fruit and vegetables. To support the initiative, a contribution of MYR 500 was made to cover the cost of meals prepared by villagers and to assist PKB in purchasing gardening tools.

The collaborative effort not only improved the area, it also deepened Asian Trails’ connection with this community, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to sustainability and meaningful local engagement. Our volunteers were invited to return in eight months to help harvest the crops and share these with residents.
