Annual closure of iconic island bay
Maya Bay, one of southern Thailand’s most famous beaches, located in the Phi Phi Islands, will be closed from 1 August to 30 September 2026 for its annual marine and environmental rehabilitation programme.
Renowned for its crystal-clear emerald waters, powder-soft white sand and dramatic limestone cliffs, the temporary closure helps preserve this spectacular natural environment for future generations.

During the temporary closure, boat tours to the Phi Phi Islands will continue to operate as scheduled. However, boats will not be permitted to enter Maya Bay. Other sightseeing and excursion activities in the surrounding area will remain unchanged.
The bay is expected to reopen on 1 October 2026. For enquiries, please explore our Phi Phi Islands programmes or contact Asian Trails Thailand.
