DAY 2
Vinh Hy – Phan Rang – Vinh Hy [B, D]
Waking up with the first sun rays welcoming another day, your day starts with a nourishing breakfast, carefully crafted and served by the culinary team of Amanoi. A well-balanced selection of local specialities among the western favourites forms the base of a day out and about.
As an integral part of the Amanoi’s set-up, the resort offers exquisite excursion options to fill your day (not included). Guests who are eager to explore the vastness of Amanoi, located in a stunning natural part of Vietnam can enquire on spot about the options available.
We would not recommend enjoying an extensive lunch on this day, as the afternoon, we head out to sample the local cuisine at Phan Rang, one of the towns nearest Vinh Hy and known for its exquisite local cuisine.
Guided by a local expert from the resort, and an ambassador of his / her country, you will leave the Amanoi as we soon make our way towards Phan Rang, a good 45-minute drive south of the Amanoi. Phan Rang is often named in the same sentence with nearby Thap Cham: it is actually a tale of two towns which are strategically located between two main highways, both showing the finest examples of the purer side of Vietnam. Still, local travellers and foreign explorers favour the region because of its proximity to some remote beaches and in particularly, the change in vegetation.
Traveling from north to south (or the other way around), the arid landscape outside this region makes way for some more semi-arid plants and greenery. But after all, Phan Rang and Thap Cham have marked their places on the tourism map with its ‘dual’ status of the Ninh Thuan province’s capital.
It is in the late afternoon that Phan Rang thrives and comes alive and with that comes the almost insatiable demand for good, fresh food. The road from Amanoi towards the culinary foundation of the region will already stimulate your craving for local dishes, with meticulously manicured rice paddy fields, and plots containing onions and garlic passing on the way. A society that claims its roots from its Chinese heritage, our food exploration includes not only the local central market where an aromatic vapour of fresh ingredients moves towards you. As important as local food is for the society, so are Phan Rang’s cultural landmarks such as the Chinese Pagoda.
Having gained an appetite, we head deep into the streets and alleys, where local master chefs turning their generations-old and cherished recipes to a dampening cornucopia of regional deliciousness. Together with your guide, it is sampling street-side prepared interpretation a-la-Phan Rang of Banh Xeo, Banh Can, Bun Thit Nuong, Banh Beo, Pho Bo, Mi Quang and much more. The ample variations throughout Vietnam of these landmark dishes always taste differently wherever you go, highlighting the immense importance of giving customers a taste of how local master chefs interpreted it in their own way. Expect an explosion of flavours this afternoon, each sample giving you an even better impression of Vietnam’s exquisite experiences.
Early evening, it is time to make our way back to Amanoi for the night
