No health declaration for arrivals

Recent reports claiming that Vietnam would introduce mandatory health declarations for all arriving travellers from 1 July 2026 are incorrect.

The Ministry of Health’s Department of Disease Prevention has issued an official clarification, confirming that no health declaration is required to enter the country.

While Vietnam has introduced a legal framework to allow health declarations to be implemented during a major public health emergency, no such emergency currently exists. Therefore, visitors are not required to complete a health declaration at this time.

Unrelated to health declarations, the Pre-arrival Information declaration is a new requirement that travellers should be aware of prior to arrival in the country. The system was launched in April 2026 as a pilot programme at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport and was expanded in June 2026 to include Hanoi, Danang and Phu Quoc airports.

Passengers arriving at these entry points must complete the Pre-arrival Information declaration via the official immigration portal within 72 hours prior to arrival. The digital system replaces paper arrival forms, helping to streamline the immigration process. Once submitted, travellers receive a QR code to present on arrival.
