New Krabi Airport terminal enhances passenger experience
Krabi Airport officially opened its new domestic passenger terminal today, following a successful soft launch on 26 September.
The opening completes a major infrastructure upgrade valued at nearly four billion baht, which included the construction of Terminal 3, renovations to Terminals 1 and 2 and the addition of new parking facilities.
With the new facilities in place, Krabi Airport can now accommodate up to eight million passengers per year and simultaneously handle 40 large and medium-sized aircraft. This development supports Krabi’s emergence as a premier destination for both domestic and international travellers.
Airlines are responding quickly to the province’s growing appeal. Etihad launched direct flights from Abu Dhabi yesterday, while IndiGo has been operating daily services from Mumbai since March. Air Arabia and Firefly will begin services in November, connecting Krabi with Sharjah, UAE, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Along with the new developments, passenger processing has been streamlined. All travellers now enter via Terminal 1. Those with checked baggage check in at Zone A or B on the third floor, while self-service kiosks are available for passengers without checked baggage. International passengers depart through Gates 1–7; domestic passengers use Gates 8–14.
