New pre-travel requirement for Vietnam

On 15 April 2026, Vietnam introduced a new online pre-arrival information system for international travellers.

All passengers arriving at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport are now required to complete a digital arrival card within 72 hours prior to entry. The form can be completed online via the Vietnam Immigration Portal.

To ensure a seamless arrival experience, travellers are strongly advised to complete the form before departure. Those unable to do so may access and complete the form on arrival by scanning a QR code in the arrival hall before proceeding to the immigration checkpoint.

After completing the form, travellers will receive a QR code via email, which must be presented to the immigration officer on arrival.

The requirement is currently in place at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, with plans to expand the system to additional airports across Vietnam in the near future. This initiative forms part of Vietnam’s wider efforts to enhance immigration efficiency and streamline passenger processing at key international gateways.
