Nature thrives after protection period
Two of Thailand’s iconic island destinations are welcoming visitors again after their annual marine recovery period.
Maya Bay – one of the country’s most famous coastal attractions – reopened on 1 October 2025 after its scheduled closure for ecosystem protection. This yearly conservation measure supports the regeneration of coral and marine life, helping to preserve the bay’s pristine beauty for future generations.
Meanwhile, the Surin and Similan Islands – two premier marine destinations off the coast of Phang Nga Province – reopened on 15 October 2025. Set in the Andaman Sea, the archipelagos are renowned for world-class diving, snorkelling and vibrant marine biodiversity, making them key locations for nature-focused travel experiences.
