Transforming lives through hospitality training

Following a major revival, the Luang Prabang Hospitality Training Centre has reopened as a transformative platform empowering Lao youth to build careers in tourism and hospitality.

With support from multiple partners, including the Skills for Tourism, Agriculture, and Forestry Programme – backed by the governments of Lao PDR, Luxembourg, Switzerland and the European Union, as well as the Ministry of Education and Sports and LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency – the facility has been upgraded into a modern, hands-on learning environment designed to strengthen skills development in one of the country’s key economic sectors.

Students receive real-world training in food production, food and beverage service, and event management as part of a five-year programme.

They are trained in all aspects of hospitality operations while also generating income that supports the centre’s long-term maintenance and sustainability.

Access to skills development places particular emphasis on marginalised groups, including women, ethnic minorities and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Travellers can engage directly with the programme through Asian Trails’ Cooking Atelier experience, where participants are invited to explore the rich culinary heritage of Laos in a cooking session led by the centre’s chefs.

More than a memorable culinary experience, each visit directly supports student training and contributes to the ongoing development of hospitality professionals in Laos. To learn more, please contact Asian Trails Laos.
